Who will be the disciplinarian...

So I was watching TV minding my own business and I realized that Christian and the cat were up to something. I leaned over to find someone CLEARLY breaking the rules! if you can't really see what is happening click on the picture and it will get bigger and you will see it.

Yup, I think Turtle is going to ask her Dad for permission to everything before coming to mom...For the record I do love my cat, but sharing my milk straight from my cereal bowl...interesting...let alone he is using his spoon to share and she is using it.

Baby Registry!

Last week a friend of mine and I went to register for the baby. It was definitely a shock and at times I really just wanted to hand over the gun. It was intense. To be honest, I have no idea what a baby needs because some of the stuff we registered for I need full explanations of what they did and what they were for. I must say that I am lucky though, with all these first time moms and second time moms with newborns, I am so grateful that they are going to know the things that I can't live without and the things that I can just throw away...apparently the sanitizer microwave thing is one..who knew seemed like a good idea. I actually bought this for 2 of my friends that have registered for it, I have always just purchased practical gifts for the new moms to be, unfortuneitly I guess I missed the mark! oops! (for the record, I didn't register for that...lol)

I actually got laughed at when we were looking at sleep sacks. I didn't really understand the purpose of them and really didn't think that they were the cutest things ever so I asked Nicole the purpose of these things. It was then when she told me that babies aren't supposed to use blankets until they are 1 year old! like what! A lady in the isle actually giggled at my reaction. Now, come to thing of it, I'm not even at that chapter in my book so whatever!...:)

So I have added the link to the page. We did decide to only register at Babies R Us, although Target was going to be there too, I always found it really hard to find what you were looking for there though so I just tanked it.

If you ladies have any suggestions or if I missed something, or added something that is not worth it, please let me know...you guys are my eyes on this one. I can only learn so much through books!

round 2!

Damn it, I'm sick again! Christian and I had a lot to do on Sat and after we attended all the events I started feeling a little achy. Well last night as I laid in bed I realized it was hard to breathe. I proactively took some Cough syrup so I could try to nip the cold/flu in the bud....no such luck. I was up ALL night, all night~ I finally went to sleep at 445am. Needless to say I stayed home from work today to try to recover. I seriously have no immune system left. Terrible...I have been self diagnosed with Bronchitis!

Fetal Movement

For weeks now I have been feeling Turtle thrash around in my belly. I must say it is one of the most amazing things ever. I have heard people describe it several ways but the best one is popping popcorn. I never really understood "fluttering butterflies." It is a really cool feeling to know she is saying hi to us. I can actually see some of the movement on the outside of my stomach too. However, if I wasn't feeling her I don't know if I could tell it was moving then. Christian puts his hand on my belly and he says sometimes he thinks he feels something but he isn't sure. I know she is moving but I don't think he is convinced. I can't wait to see his face when she really give him one (to bad she is really going to be giving it to me too when that happens!) The other day she gave a few kicks that didn't feel like popping but like she was trying to get out through my belly button, I was shocked. I think I even said "holy #@$%, what the heck was that!" She is already in control of my life!

Finally!

So we have had a busy weekend...well not really but for us, lately, I would consider it busy. lol Yesterday we went to see the Northen Trust Golf Open at Rivera Country Club in LA. The course is amazing and it was okay..:) It was definitely not my idea to go see the tournament but it wasn't that bad! we got to watch a few golfers that I have had the pleasure to hear SO much about. And let me tell you, the camera does put on at least 10 lbs. Phil Mickelson looks short and a little stocky on TV but in person he is slender and tall! We did a lot of walking and I was shocked to see how winded I got and how fast it happened. I was lucky enough to get to watch the highlights on TV when I got home too, LUCKY ME! But the best part of it was, We made it on TV! Kinda... they were filming Phil taking his tee shot and then paned out and there were Christian and I. You can see Christians face, but by the time Phil was done teeing off I had turned to the side and already started walking. So you get to see my profile and the cute flower I had in my hair. Oh and by the way we noticed Christian is losing his hair and has terrible posture! I laughed my ass off when he stopped it, rewinded it, repeated and said "crap babe, I am going bald and walk totally slouched!"

Today we were off to the races! I have never been to Santa Anita Race Tracks so I was really excited. Plus we got to hang with Michelle and Conrad, which is always fun. And as always, I won more than I lost. I have this theory and if I bet bigger I would lose and my theroy would fail...I always bet 2 ways, either down racial lines (I know, I know) or by the craziest/most reactive horse I see when they do the "greet" (when they show everyone the horses, I have no idea what that is really called). Anyway, today I found that my fellow latinos were killing it. I placed bets on all the hispanic jockeys whether or not the horse was a favorite or a long shot! :) Okay, so my bets were not large but really I just like seeing the horse everyone looked at me crazy for betting on get close to winning. We didn't stay for the last race but my last bet was placed on a jockey with the last name of Mendoza or something and a horse that was 20 to 1...and I won! well, the horse and jockey won. I bet 2 bucks and won 25. Yes everyone, I'm rich! he he he

New Pants and Belly Pictures

So I went shopping this weekend because I think it is time to get out of normal (fat closet) jeans and get into something a little more confortable. I tried this last weekend but gave up and left with nothing. (to be honest, maternity clothes are less than appealing!). As I was walking around the mall I decided all I really need is 1 or 2 pairs of pants (not jeans) to last me through the rest of winter and early spring. I have 2 pairs of jeans already but because they have an elastic waist I don't feel I'm quite ready for those (I told my self once I am 6 months those pairs are all game). I went into several stores and walked out just as depressed and I walked in. Then I went into the Gap...well I found the best pair of pants and there is NO elastic waist AT ALL! (well not the traditional style at least). I loved them so much I took pictures...of the front and the back! See what I have noticed is this...if you don't have elastic in the front you have bulging elastic in the back. Gross. I seriously don't need more love handle looking things back there.

Here are the pants, can you see the elastic?? I can't...the elastic is actually in the pants so they look normal!

Oh, check out my belly button! I have a super inney but over the last few days I look at it and there is a fold popping out of the top?? Plus, I wonder how big my lady bug is going to get.

20 week ultrasound.

Today Christian and I went in for our last ultrasound :( (I'm sure I can get my doctor to give me one more in 2 months or so, but for now no more). They wanted to do some diagnostics to make sure her development was on track and my placenta looked good. They actually mistakenly did these twice, but I was never going to pass up an opportunity to see Turtle! so I didn't say anything about the double booking. lol! Turtle is now big enough to be weighed. She is weighing in at a whole 14 oz!

I woke up early so I could eat before the ultrasound (the doctors said food normally wakes her up and gets her kicking). It worked but in the process I think I irritated her since she really wanted to sleep. The entire ultrasound she had her head down towards my cervix and her legs up by my belly button. Basically when the baby sits in this position you get a few good pictures (none that are good to show)...one of her butt, top of her head, or her back. That's it! So Turtle sat there and showed me her butt the whole time as she thrashed around her legs. I guess that showed me! no more earlier than normal breakfast. I think we have a sleeper on our hands...or at least a night owl, GREAT!

Dinner with the girls!

Last night I went to dinner with a few girlfriends. It was nice to catch up with some of the girls since the last time I saw them they were the ones with the babies in their bellies! Oh how things change. As we sat at dinner and I looked around I realized I was surrounded by a table of mostly moms! A year ago it would have been a table of winos and instead of following dinner with decaf coffees and dessert we would have been taking shots of Patron and heading to another spot. Nuts! I guess I am turning 30...sometimes I think it is a joke, like there is no way I got here so fast, like I skipped a few years somewhere.

Cheryl brought her son Kai and it was cute to see his little personality. He is super mellow and just really took things in. Elle was also there, now let me tell you, what a cute little girl. Elle is a little remake of Haley (what a lucky girl). Brianna and Brandi fought over rights to share Elle, feed her, burp her, whatever. Too funny. All I kept thinking was, OMG in 5 months there is going to be yet another angel for them to want to hold and she is going to be MINE! I didn't hold Elle but I looked at her in amazement. Not that I didn't want to hold her, but she looked so darn comfortable on Brandi and B that I didn’t wanna disturb her. Plus, to be honest, I am really good with babies 6months and above. I'm fun aunt Claudia. The one that lets you through raisins in the air and singes "It's raining raisins!" (sorry Nicole). I hope that once Turtle is born I would snap into my maternal instinct, I know it is in there.

Anyway, M0nday I have my last ultrasound which is scheduled with my OB. This ultrasound is to measure Turtle's development and make sure everything is good in there. I am really excited to see her again. Only 3y6 hours left and Christian and I will be able to see our angel!

Todays Doctors Appointment

So I went to the doctors today and were able to hear her little heartbeat again. It is so nice to hear that sound, it will never get old!
My current weight gain is now at 5lbs so that is good. Still a little concerned. I mean, if I am only to gain another 20 lbs, that is only 4 lbs per month. It just seems like I can do more damage than that! Only time will tell.
I have been telling you all that my belly is so much bigger at night than the morning, so I took a picture after dinner tonight. (you can't tell in the picture but my right side is sooo much bigger than the left since her head etc is resting on that side).


Oh, so a comment to Natalie about my dance moves: Hopefully she doesn't have those moves, they seem to come out after about 10 alcoholic beverages! lol

Update

Almost half way there!

I still can't believe it! I wonder what she will look like? I have been have dreams recently and I think I have been dreaming about what I wish she would look like rather than what she is going to look like (and she will be more perfect, because I am sure I can't even imagine such a perfect thing!).
Here is what I think/dream she will look like: (:

-Dimples (hopefully like Renatto...)
-Green Eyes (again, hopefully like Renatto (I mean he did steal them from me!)...still pissed about it almost 30 years later!)
-Hair: like mine...in body and thickness...(sorry Christian, female balding is not sexy!)
-Eye Lashes: Christian's! Why do the guys always get hooked up with the sweet eye lashes!
- Hair color: ummm...well I have a feeling that it will change a lot anyway.
- Legs: Christian wins again...sorry dad, but your legs will hopefully end with me! lol (The Silva calves are ones that should go down in history)
-Hands..Mine...although they look like lil smokey fingers...I have always looked at my mom's hands and been in awe that they are so similar...I want to share that with my daughter too!

What she will probably look like: None of the above. lol

On another note:
Tomorrow I have another appointment with my OB. These past few appointments have been pretty simple and uneventful. I am really curious to see how much weight I have gained. Well, once I find out I have a feeling I would rather have not found out..but whatever! it comes with the territory. I am shocked however that it is so hard to come to terms with your body changing. I can't cross a mirror or my reflection in a window and not stare at my belly. I have now lost the ability to suck in. I mean, I can't do it at all! Weird. Never thought I'd miss that, but every time you lose the ability to do something it makes it all that much more real.
So until tomorrow.....here are some updated pictures of my belly taken this morning (remember it grows theroughout the day!). For some reason, I don't know what happens, but I feel a lot more pregnant at work...what gives??
